Accounting Manager

Amotec is in search of experienced candidates for an Accounting Manager opportunity at our Freight Forwarding client's Miami, Florida location.


Accounting Manager Job Description


  • Perform tasks and duties to complete settlement of accounts with Asia Shipping branches and prepare wire requests and related journal entries
  • Process AR for assigned branches
  • Prepare AP reports for aged balances for write-off and communicate with branches
  • Research and resolve AP issues with vendors
  • Research and resolve settlement issues with another's Asia Shipping offices
  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process
  • Maintain all record keeping files for tasks/duties assigned by accounting management
  • Compile, sort, and organize supporting documentation (invoices, checks, etc.) for related business transactions.
  • Verify details of business transactions to generate spreadsheets and databases. Code data for input to financial data applications per company procedures; review, reconcile and interpret reports to make corrections, as needed
  • Investigate and research noted discrepancies and report findings to management to keep management apprised of problems and issues that may arise requiring appropriate action to be taken
  • Assist with the accounting system implementation and process improvements, as assigned by management.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and any other tasks or duties, as assigned by management
  • Accounts Receivables Collections with Customers and Agents
  • In charge of the daily/ monthly bank reconciliation

Accounting Manager Job Requirements


  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • At least four years of related hands-on experience
  • Freight-forwarding/logistics industry knowledge and/or experience is required
  • Advanced level MS Excel skills (e.g., vlookup, pivot table etc.)
  • Able to read, write legibly, and perform math calculations accurately
  • Able to analyze, consolidate and present accounting data in a clear, concise manner
  • Possess strong attention to detail
  • Able to communicate effectively with others in English and Spanish, verbally and written. Communicate on a regular basis with overseas affiliates, other departments, vendors, management, customers, and staff of other branch locations, etc.
  • Able to perform data entry accurately and use MS-Office, Outlook, and other software applications to perform job duties
  • Proficiency with PC equipment and technology to perform duties
  • Possess solid customer services skills to listen, communicate, and respond in a timely manner to meet customer expectations. Customers may be either internal or external customers of the department
  • Be a team player and as well as work independently under supervision to perform duties
  • Able to prioritize workload to meet deadlines; keep supervisor informed of progress on the assigned project in a timely manner
  • Follow and comply with established guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate dependability and reliability to perform all assigned duties of the position
  • Ability to bend, lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • All applicants are required to complete a background check and drug screen

Additional Information

  • Compensation: $60,000-$65,000 based on experience
