Job Description

Our client, a global industry leading aerospace industry manufacturing company, is currently looking for a Business Unit Manager to join their team at a manufacturing facility in Portland, OR. This Business Unit Manager will be leading a 300 person business unit with $150M+ in direct P&L responsibility. The ideal candidate for this Business Unit Manager role will have a strong background in operations management and experience utilizing lean principles.

Business Unit Manager Description

Reporting to the Vice President and General Manager, the Business Unit Manager will have P&L accountability for one of the major business unit.
The successful candidate will effectively develop and direct an aligned manufacturing and support team, comprised of team members that are either direct or matrixed reports, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, sales, planning, facilities, maintenance, finance, HR, safety, to:
* Actively and urgently develop a proactive safety culture
* Meet or exceed daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety, quality, throughput, sales and EBIT customer and budget requirements
* Improve part quality and drive enhanced production capability by eliminating the sources of rework
* Incorporate Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles in all areas of business
* Active engagement in all levels of business, including manufacturing workforce, technical and quality support, customer communications, and executive management operating reviews
* Forecast and pro-actively increase capacity as required to meet significant business growth
* Develop a World Class manufacturing culture and environment
* Outstanding communication, planning, organizing, and engagement skills
* Detailed business acumen, and the ability to maintain a daily discipline around key business objectives
* Able to innovate a long-term, strategic, World Class vision of operations, and execute a plan to accomplish
* Practical experience implementing and maintaining advanced lean manufacturing
* Strong managerial presence that reflects a hands-on, participative, pro-active operating style
Experience Required:
* BS degree in technical discipline, MBA a plus
* 10-15 years of progressive manufacturing operations experience
* Investment casting background highly desired
* Experience achieving major capacity increases to support significant and rapid increases in demand
