Job Description

Our client, a division of a multi national aerospace manufacturing company, is currently looking for a Customer Quality Engineer to join their team in a permanent role at their location in the Akron/ Canton area. This organization is looking for a candidate who has a strong background in quality systems and who has worked extensively with customers on quality issues. They are open to candidates out of industries other then aerospace and are open to relocation.

Customer Quality Engineer Job Description

The Customer Quality Engineer will have functional responsibility within the Quality Engineering organization, but successful candidates should have experience working in a cross-functional manner across strategic processes throughout the enterprise. The focus of this position will be the application of quality engineering tools, project management skills and problem solving techniques to the value chain in order to botain 'best-in-class' levels of execution.
Job Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Quality interface with the customer for the new product development process and existing product quality, including participation within concurrent engineering activities defining the requirements for the program.
  • Create a Quality compliance matrix that reflects the position pertaining to compliance of customer program Quality requirements.
  • Generate and maintain Quality Plans and other Quality documents as required, including maintaining their Configuration Control.
  • Responsible for on-going customer interface for all Quality-related matters.
  • Focal point for receiving customer feedback of Quality problems that occur at the producion (OE) level. Assure that identified problems have been addressed, effective corrective action implemented to prevent future occurrences and communicate the resolution back to the customer.
  • Expedite and track quality performance to achieve customer satisfaction and facilitate continuous improvement activities to improve performance.
  • Interface with the customer during customer visits as well as Program Reviews at the Customer site that have Quality items on the agenda.
  • Apply successfully a variety of Continuous Improvement tools (ie. Lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, PFMEA, etc)
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Have a familiarity with aerospace regulatory requirements such as EASA / FAR part 21 and 145, AS9100, AS9120.
  • Drive for improvement by the use of business-related metrics and communicate performance through appropriate tools (ie PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc)
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent personal and team organizational skills and effective time management.
  • Dedication to the continuous improvement of quality initiatives through professional assertiveness.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify, analyze and report opportunities for improvement and contribute to solutions.
  • Review FAI's as received from Supplier Quality for accuracy. Submittal of forms I, II and II to the customer as required. Review FAI onsite with Customer as required.
  • Utilize SAP as an ERP solution.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education : Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Certifications :
Years Experience : 5 years minimum of relevant experience, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industries or a high technology/small batch product design/manufacturing environment.
Skills :

  • Knowledge of complex Quality Engineering processes and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering
  • Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and make recommendations for improvements to products, processes or services
  • Ability to explain a range of complex technical information
