Amotec is hiring an Equipment Superintendent for our client's location in Fort Lauderdale.

Equipment Superintendent Job Description

  • Plan, develop and implement best preventive and corrective practices with regards to equipment maintenance and equipment safety that result in continued operations minimizing downtime and repair and operating costs
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs for all equipment used in terminal operations ensuring availability for continued operations and reduction of downtime.
  • Prepare, keep track and monitor key performance indicators of equipment performance and maintenance to take preventive and corrective action as needed that would reduce downtime and maintenance related costs.
  • Control consumption of supplies such as fuel, lubricants, pneumatics and spare parts as well as prepare purchase order of parts and services striving at all times to minimizing cost and providing recommendations on the rationalization of resources.
  • Keep all equipment in safe operating condition, including brakes, horn, stairways, speed control, hydraulics among others making sure to eliminate any potential risk for an accident as a result of equipment malfunction or maintenance.
  • Observe Safety Policies and procedures with respect to equipment use and maintenance ensuring a safe workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor

Equipment Superintendent Job Requirements

  • Must have B.S. Mechanical Engineering
  • Hands on experience in heavy port equipment, technical degree
  • Heavy port equipment systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic) expertise
  • Experience implementing preventive maintenance programs and associated software
  • Experience in implementing 'INFOR' brand PM software preferred
  • Safety first mindset and formal training
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and analytical skills
  • Ability to undertake detailed root cause analysis
  • Advanced equipment diagnostic methodologies and knowledge
  • The ideal candidate should be a 'Doer'
  • Ability to work alone/without much administrative support
  • Admin skills to manage inventory control, parts purchase
  • Integrity, attention to detail and organization are a must
  • Ability to work with unionized labor
  • Ability to bend, lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
